Interpol Appreciation Post

Been on my iPhone all morning. I still maintain that Turn On The Bright Lights is their best album, but let's face it – it's all GREAT!

FREE Deathwish / Malfunction "Fall Sampler 2008"

It's one of my favourite times of the year (even though it happens four times a year, but I believe that to be irrelevant!).

It's the time of year when my favourite label in the world (DEATHWISH) releases their Fall Sampler and boy-o-boy is this one a good one!

From the site:

"Yet another stacked Deathwish/Malfunction Digital Sampler!!! This time around not only do you get FREE songs from classic/new/upcoming releases, newly announced artists and their affiliated labels (Eyeball, Lockin' Out, A389, 1-6-Oh/Animal Style, Narshaada, and more) have graciously donated songs to this project. Making it possible for you to check out these label's releases while you get familiar with artists currently working on their anticipated Deathwish releases!!!

This FREE Digital sampler features 21 songs from: Trap Them, Blacklisted, Cold World, Narrows, 108, United Nations*, The Carrier, Carpathian, The Hope Conspiracy, Victims, Killing The Dream, Lewd Acts*, End of a Year*, Rot In Hell*, Rise And Fall, Reign Supreme, Bitter End, New Lows*, Shipwreck a.d., Pulling Teeth, and Supermachiner."

You can download the sampler here.

CHINESE DEMOCRACY

Even despite my long-stated hatred for Guns 'N' Roses (and Axl Rose in particular) I still feel that it is important to point this out to the adoring masses (i.e. the majority of my friends who constantly ridicule me for aforementioned hatred) that CHINESE DEMOCRACY HAS A RELEASE DATE!!!

According the Universal Records, for the moment, Chinese Democracy is being released November 22 (along with new Kanye West, The Killers and Jay-Z), or if you live in the U.S. November 25.

BestBuy.com is currently taking pre-orders for the long-awaited GUNS N’ ROSES album “Chinese Democracy” at this location. According to the site, the album will be released on November 25 and will be made available on CD and vinyl format. Furthermore, fans have a choice between three different CD and LP covers, although exact details have not yet been revealed.

Billboard magazine reported last week that “Chinese Democracy” would be released on Sunday, November 23 via an exclusive deal with Best Buy. To whet fans’ appetites, so to speak, the group’s label will reissue its classic 1987 debut, “Appetite for Destruction”, in a new vinyl edition on October 28. One new GUNS song, called “If The World”, can be heard in part over the end credits of the film “Body of Lies”, which opened this past Friday (October 10), while another track, “Shackler’s Revenge”, will make its debut on Rock Band 2 at the end of this month.

The last all-new GUNS N’ ROSES releases were the 1991 double albums “Use Your Illusion I” and “II”. Since that time, every single original member of the band except for singer Axl Rose has departed.

“Chinese Democracy” has been in the works since the mid-’90s, with speculation and mystery surrounding the album’s 13-year journey, ever-changing roster of players and spiraling recording costs.

Keyboardist Dizzy Reed, who joined in 1990 and is the longest-serving member after Rose, told The Pulse of Radio a while back that he thinks fans will be pleased when they finally get to hear the results. “It’s a pretty intense musical journey, really,” he said. “Everyone that is in the band, or was in the band at some point — ’cause there, you know, there’s been a few guys who have come and gone even since the old band — has contributed, and because of that I think it really takes you to some interesting musical places. When you add Axl and guitars, of course, though, it kinda glues it all together. There’s something for everybody, but I think if you’re a GUNS fan, if you’re an Axl fan, you’ll like it all. You’ll love it all.”

I'm not loving you, way I wanted to...

This is pretty much my favourite song right now, and I'm pretty sure that it's going to be my song of the summer – that or something from the new Kings Of Leon album.

But since Kanye is touring this December with Nas and Scribe (SQUEEE!) I'll be more excited about that....

At least until Kings Of Leon announce a tour.

In the meantime, I don't really know what's going on in this clip, but DAMN it's a fantastic song!

Gorilla Biscuits

Probably the most important tour this year!

Photobucket

From the Official Press Release:

"Perhaps the most quintessential band of the New York hardcore punk scene of the late 80s, Gorilla Biscuits became highly influential in the space of just one album (1989's Start Today) and EP (1988's Gorilla Biscuits).

With the group disbanding in 1992, Gorilla Biscuits briefly reunited in 1997 for a benefit at CBGB's, and played another show there on August 14, 2005 as a benefit to save the club from financial problems. To coincide with the re issue of "Start Today", the band held a month-long reunion tour during the US summer of 2006, and in September 2007 performed a month long tour across Europe.

With Australian fans patiently waiting decades for a Gorilla Biscuits Tour, December 2008 will see the band heading down under for the very first time, tickets go on sale Oct 13."

Misanthropy Pure - Shai Hulud

Taken from one of favourite albums so far this year...

Understood.
This will read as a plea to vindicate intolerance as surely as it is written.

Understand.
Contempt born of clear perception is a birthright to those who channel it toward progression.

Preserve life through loathing.
Awaken hope within hatred.
Wrest insight from outrage.

This is a birthright and obligation.

Spiteful and ill-tempered, I know the character well...
A maelstrom of weakness and instability seething with viciousness.
I choose not to accept it;
Not into my life.
There is no hope of reform.
When pride is allied with hostility, all reason is denied.
I return the denial.

A glaring misconception of self-importance, I know the character well...
Heedless food, so arrogant with no understanding of consequence.
I see this negligence.
I choose not to accept it;
Not into my life.
Absence of introspection neglects the outer world.
Let not the excess of lusts and comfort mislead you.
This world is not yours.

To distort the truth to serve itself,
To oppose understanding,
I believe in man.
Man will maintain its hostility.
Have this faith.

Feel the quarrel in just his presence, you know the character all too well...
A destructive man at war with his cowardice.
I detest belligerence, and I choose not to accept it;
Not into my life.
I keep separate these hatreds.
Undefined animosity is a device of the spineless, the means of a fool.
Focused misanthropy is opposition to these dark hearts -
Downpours of disapproval no words could begin to express.
Words cannot express my disappointment.

To distort the truth to serve itself,
To oppose understanding,
I believe in man.
Man will maintain its hostility.
Have this faith.

To distort the truth to serve itself,
To oppose understanding,
I believe in man.
Man will maintain its hostility.
Have this faith.

Have this faith.

Conflict in the chest,
To be concerned for the needs of such heartless men.

Life through loathing.
Hope within hatred.
Insight from outrage.

Life through loathing.
Hope within hatred.
Insight from outrage.

Life through loathing.
Hope within hatred.
Wrest insight from outrage.

This is a birthright and obligation.

STUNTS!!

DVD TRAILER - SEPTEMBER 2008

A new beginning ...

I haven't blogged on here in months and months.

I decided that since I was blogging on my MySpace I may as well just keep blogging there. I haven't even been blogging on there lately. I just don't have the time. But new beginnings should bring more time and more time means more blogs, which will be posted here instead of on my the 'Space ... Or maybe both, I haven't decided yet.

So be on the lookout for some rad shit to be posted here in the very near future.
